Back ta School - a cautionary tale, as told by GallantTed

Us Teds are a bit broke after all da gallivanten we did duren da summer.  But luckily didn’t we see an ad on the internet offeren us classes on how ta get-rich-fierce-quick-alltagatherThe classes are run by the world famous onterpineer, Mrs Trudy Loff.
MadDogTed likes spenden money

Well, we applied fer the course and Trudy sent us a really nice personal email tellen us that a cute buncha tallented onterpineeren Teds like us could call her Tru

We was right chuffed, I’ll tell ya, and being a biteen short of cash, we had ta go ta Mr Slasher fer a loan fer ta sign up ta Tru’s course - cos these thing don’t come cheapya know.

Anyways, Mr Slasher looked more that a biteen dubious fer sure and told us that he’d heard of manys the poor crature that ended up in the workhouse after signen up fer the very same get-rich-quick course.

One guy was advised ta purchase a pile of land fer ta make a football pitch out of. He borrowed up ta his eyeballs only ta discover that the land was riddled with moles and it was too bumpy fer anyone ta play on.

Then there was the woman what was advised ta specialise in luxury desserts and paid through the nose fer a secret recipe fer custard. But, alas, the mixture always came out lumpy no matter what she did.

And then there was Mr Slasher’s very own cousin, Belinda da Beautician, what spent an arm and a leg on fake tan that always came out uneven and was sued ta the armpits by her angry clientelle.

Which only goes ta prove ta ya the course a Tru Loff never did run smooth.

  1. I liked how you spelled this blog it really takes you in, I swear I could hear your accent it was difficult at times to understand you due to your spelling but I know you worked hard to make it readable. I enjoyed the story keep up the good work.

  2. Bear must have been gallivanting more then just the summer months, I think he missed out on alot by the way he spells, he spells exactly the way he speaks. Mrs Trudy Loff is the clever one, convincing all the gullible people to pay her money so that she can teach them to get rich quick. And from the sound of all the get rich courses that Tru (to the gullible ones) is teaching that there are a lot of lumps and bumps along the way and nothing seems to run smooth, but that's life and someone always comes out better of. 3. The language is written in the style of the accent so somebody not familiar with it might struggle-but I got it! Get rich quick schemes always seem to affect the gullible ones in society. This felt relatable and funny at the same time because I have heard of so many Ponzi schemes which always make you wonder how anybody could be so naive. AC

  4. I love how you were able to write in his style of language. Even if it is a bit hard for someone to understand this style you will always know what they are trying to say. The one thing they should of been advised on is only a few bunch of people can get rich of custard, fake tan and football fields. Morale of the story take time to come up with an idea that is originaly there own and work as hard as possible to make that idea perfect, and than they might have a possible route to make money. There are no quick rich ideas you will always have to work hard! AW

  5. Just read Mad Dog Ted's latest blog on how to get rich quick, which I found very entertaining.

Ted is always on the look-out for ways to better his life, fair play to him.

Keep up the good work Ted and I look forward to reading your next Blog.

  6. I certainly get that the spelling is meant to imitate the accent, but at first I had a great deal of difficulty trying to read it. Once I got that, reading your post became much easier.

The punchline is great though, a classic example of the dad joke if ever there was one. A+ work.

  7. I think that it is interesting that courses do not always work out for people in the end.

The piece is written very informally and it is written like it would be spoken. It is an eye-opener to all people setting out in the workplace.

  8. Ted should have gotten a job instead of getting into debt to Mr. Slasher to pay for a course. It would have gotten him closer to being rich if that's what he wanted so much. Falling for Mrs. Trudy Loff's scam course is helping her get rich off of Teds naivety so its the real get rich quick scheme. MQ

  9. Reading the article I could hear the words coming out of Teds mouth .It sounded like he had a great summer. The moral of the story would be that you should not get involved in schemes promising to make you rich .MadDogTed likes spending money but obviously does not want to work for it .The blog would tempt you to follow the tales of MadDogTed the fun loving teddy.

  10. I get what you are trying to do with the rather avant-garde approach to spelling, but it really does make it too hard to actually read the post.

I did get a kick out of the joke at the end though.

  11. Great article with interesting slang. I enjoyed this article and would look forward to reading more of MadDogTed's adventures. I was able to paint a picture in my mind of what was going on. Love the image at the top of the article. MadDogTed must love a pint of guinness!

  12. Gallent Ted is an adorable teddy and the style of the writing in the article Back to School is very clever and enjoyable to read. It make the story interesting and very quirky . It proves that nobody gets rich quick and life is a hard slog but creates a comical way of telling a story .

  13. I thought that the story was very honest how they were interested in signing up for a get-rich-quick scheme on the eve of returning to school.

Also, it was amusing how they were broke and had to desperately borrow money to pay for the course.

  14. A delightful read as I have quite an imaginative mind and could actually her the voice of MadDog Ted. It comes out as a waring to us all not to believe in these get rich quick schemes that people nowadays are selling online. The caution is noted.

  15. From reading this article I feel like I can hear the words out of Teds mouth with a slight accent perhaps Irish, I think the writing style is for the younger generation, even though its about making money from an add that he'd seen on the internet and how he described the man purchasing land for a football pitch.

  16. It sounded like Ted had a great summer. He probably thought by doing a course that it would benefit him to make a bit of extra money but instead he was told a lot of negative feedback from other bears that had been on the same road as him.

  17. This is a very entertaining read and thoroughly enjoyed the tongue in cheek approach on how the words are spelt in reflection from the individual accent from Gallant Ted's mouth! I sense Ted has taught us a valuable lesson when it comes to "quick-rich" schemes - more haste less speed! S.R
